OUR PURPOSE

SOCOBA’s mission is to provide HIV/AIDS education and prevention for children and young people at risk and vulnerable in Mabule and surrounding villages in Botswana. As part of the SOCOBA HIV Prevention initiative, SOCOBA will implement the Empower Soccer pilot program.

This program will focus on providing HIV prevention education to Mabule youth soccer league participants. Target beneficiaries will be at-risk youth in Mabule. The project will place an emphasis on the inclusion of orphans and young people living with disabilities.

This program represents the beginning of SOCOBA’s multi-faceted approach towards assistance for youth in the greater Mabule area. Soccer is a passion for youth in the area and the organization of a soccer league will be met with enthusiasm. The cost of sustaining the soccer league will be minimal. The trained local coaches and young people will provide an opportunity to evolve the pilot program to address other health-related and well being education needs. SOCOBA will use information gathering during the pilot to determine priority needs for additional projects in Mabule and surrounding villages.
